The 8500 series door closer features a universal application, allowing it to be easily installed as a direct replacement for the Norton 8501 and 8301 as well as the Yale 3301 and 3501 door closers. With a non-sized design, the closer can be set from size 1 through 6, accommodating doors weighing between 40 and 240 pounds.

Engineered with reduced spring power, the 8500 series door closer provides easier opening for handicapped or elderly individuals, while still maintaining ANSI Grade 1 certification and UL listing for fire door assemblies. This hydraulic door closer comes standard with a back-check function, and offers adjustable closing and latching speeds via two separate regulating valves. The included allen wrench allows for easy on-site adjustment of these valves.

The adjustable back-check feature controls the amount of resistance to opening the door past a selected point, helping to protect walls from damage should the door be thrown open or caught by the wind. This back-check function is designed to slow the door's movement, not to stop it entirely.

Mounting options for the 8500 series include regular arm, parallel arm, or top jamb, with the parallel arm bracket and all necessary fasteners included with each closer. The screw hole spacing is 12 inches center-to-center for the horizontal mounting holes and 3/4 inch center-to-center for the vertical screw holes.
